Chocolate Chip Cookies

I'm not sure if I've ever met someone who didn't like a chocolate chip cookie. They come in all different shapes, sizes and textures so I think it's safe to say many of us chocolate chip cookie fanatics can be picky about how we like them to be.

For me, I like a chewy cookie center, thinner in size, and with crisp edges. This is the perfect chocolate chip cookie and if that sounds amazing to you then you will love this recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cookies:

  • 1 cup butter (partially melted or at room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup cane sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt (a little more if you're using unsalted butter)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, optional**

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and prepare a nonstick baking pan or prepare regular baking pan and line with parchment paper or nonstick tin foil.

  2. Cream together butter, sugars, salt, baking soda, and white vinegar until creamy in texture.

  3. Next, add in your vanilla and egg until combined.

  4. Scrape sides of the bowl with a spatula to ensure everything is thoroughly incorporated and add your flour. Mix together until combined.

  5. Next, add your chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if desired to make with nuts)

  6. Using two teaspoons or a cookie scoop drop 1 1/2 inch sized cookie dough balls onto the prepared baking pan leaving about 2 inches of space between them to spread.

  7. Bake for about 10-12 minutes - check often to ensure bottoms do not burn. They should be a perfect golden brown on the bottom and edges while the tops will still be quite soft and paler in color.
  8. When ready pull cookies out of the oven and let them cool on the baking pan for a few minutes. They will thin out and chocolate chips will become more pronounced.

  9. When completely cooled place in your favorite container to showcase or put in airtight container. You can add a few drops of water to a paper towel and place in with cookies to keep them soft for 1-2 weeks.

I hope you enjoy this yummy recipe as much as I do. These are one of our favorites to have on hand at home! Happy baking -
